Garie's interior designs and projects have been featured in many
newspapers
and magazines.
He was the first to use the Flipbook concept to make the client
understands 3D design. Flipbook is the cheapest way to create 3D walkthrough
design. It can be converted into a 3D stereo Flipbook using basic
stereo glasses. All his design concepts are based on the following
principles: good proportion of space in relation to object in
its environment; ergonomics, scale, harmony, and the balance of
different visual forces between the various elements. By emphasizing
design features, it creates good rhythm in designing, providing
unity with the variety of elements, good visual aesthetic creates
durability in design.
Garie has always realized that clear visualization of interior
space and understanding of the proposed design concept by any
client is very important. As long ago as 1988, he was already
searching for a new way to present his design ideas. Computer
was his choice for the design tool, the software as the design
medium. In the late 80's the computer software was too elementary
for serious professional designers. It took Garie four years to
search for designing software and hardware. The Macintosh Computer
system was an ideal choice as they were user friendly. Investing
a few hundred thousand dollars in software and hardware in late
1993, it took Garie ten days to master many software programs
through self motivation and study. This makes Garie the pioneer
in 3D interactive computer walkthrough design in Singapore, as
featured in The Sunday Times June 1994.
Together with digital cameras and other artist software, Garie
began his creating in virtual space. Since then he has created
hundred of animations and library files. Self motivation and computer
systems have made Garie an even better designer. Computerization
doubles and triples the speed of the design process. The creation
of 3D objects or situations is fun, and can make you feel you
are a magician in virtual reality.
Garie is a bit of a visionary, as all designers must be. Take
a look at his imaginary creations of the future.
Finally, after more than twenty years of playing with all kind
of clays, Garie settled down creating all his miniatures in polymer
clay. The clay was the reliable medium for his many hobbies during
his free time. He created toys for his kids with polymer clay.
With encouragements from his friends,Garie set up the
play clay school,
teaching young kid in Singapore to develop their fine motor skills,
improve hand and eye coordination. Garie
hope to cultivate and develop, young creative talents in the the
local community. Creating more talents will bring about changes
in perception and appreciating our local artists in the Singapore
community.
