Wow! With a
greater distributorship (is that a word?) maybe they'll bring
back some of the discontinued clays like base.

Thanks Pam,
With the change European countries will be able to get more PREMO
Classic and not FIMO Classic from Eberhard Faber.

Really? Wow. That's
really interesting. You would think Fimo Classic would get top
priority. Really interesting.

I wonder why
EF decided to stop distributing Fimo products and instead distribute
Sculpey products?

Hi Cat, There was
a joint announcement between STAEDTLER and FABER-CASTELL,its
a win win situation, Staedtler holds' Fimo' and Faber-Castell
take ' Eberhard Faber '.
EFA were previously very strong with marketing polymer clay 'Fimo',
both Staedtler and Faber-Castell, were marketing similar products
and direct competition with each other, the acquisition of EFA
means that they will have more craft products for the European
market.
I guest since Sculpey is a popular brands and with good support,
it will be good to introduce into the European retail Market.
I'm not sure whether it will be long term, I suspect not, since
most of the staff marketing 'Fimo' at Staedtler were also acquired
by Faber-Castell. Who's to Know maybe EFA might re-brand Premo
Classic to EFA Classic and EFA Soft.
Information About Faber-Castell AG Acquisition of ' Eberhard
Faber ' with effect from 1st January 2010

Thanks, Garie!
You know, this explains something that Munro's said to me last week. We were
talking about the clay I was buying, and she made some comments about being
very frustrated with the clay they were trying to get in stock. At the time,
her words were cryptic, and she wouldn't say more. I suspect, now, t
hat the reason they are having difficulty is because the transition of distributorship
is still a little fuzzy as to who is shipping what to whom, and when.
Thanks for the link!

Hi Cat, Those Guy that are sitting and working, marketing Fimo under Staedtler are not as
efficient and experience as the previous EFA staff, that is why you get the
delay in the shipment of Fimo products.

Garie

But doesn't this mean Polyform is giving it to EF to distribute just in Europe (and maybe Asia),
and will continue their own distribution in the US?
(I'm confused, but that's kind of normal state:)

Garie, Thanks for your helpful info. It's good to keep up on the manufacturing/business
side of the medium we use. There certainly have been all sorts of changes in the past year.

Cat, I had heard from someone in PC retail marketing that Staedtler wants their name on
EVERYTHING and that the re-packaging was taking far longer than anticipated.......though I
don't know for sure if that's why there has been such a delay. I had also heard that the
Staedtler company is a bit less than "user friendly".

Well, nuts. That kind of thing doesn't bode well for Munro's. Too bad... there has never been
problems with them being out of stock on a color before now. I guess I should get used to it, huh?
Thanks for the info, Anita.

Cat, I think ALL the mail order sources have been in the same boat and getting only spotty
Fimo supplies, as Staedtler works on the re-lableing. ARG! Glad I'm mostly a PREMO kind of gal
(except for the Fimo Classic trans.)

Hi, Yes, they are now concentrating the European Countries, then Asia, eventually,
EFA might either have their own clay or re-pack the Premo and Sculpey 3
into EFA Classic and EFA Soft and market them in the USA.
That might be the scenario ;-)

Hi Anita, Changes is good and it shows that the PC medium is getting very popular,
more new PC and products, more options and cheaper pricing.
Thanks,
